I am currently studying BSc Biological Sciences at Imperial College London, focusing on biomedicine, plant science and evolutionary biology. As a teacher, I love writing on the blackboard while explaining and asking questions to the students.

I have mentored a student with learning difficulties in English and Mathematics for 2 weeks in summer 2021. I taught English in the morning and Maths in the afternoon, each lesson was around 1.5 hours. Apart from just teaching the material, I found my tutee to struggle on how to study properly, so I decided to teach him study skills while imparting the lessons. Consequently, not only did my lessons solve some of his gaps in Maths and English, but I also gave him resources to continue learning on his own. I learned from this mentoring experience the importance of carefully observing the mistakes that the students are committing rather than focusing on talking. Currently, I am also tutoring 3 students from disadvantaged backgrounds every Thursday for 1.5 hours with CoachBright, teaching them Chemistry and Biology in a simple and engaging way. These 3 students rated my lessons 8/8 and were very participate during them. This was because I was not just speaking the whole time. Instead, I was asking constantly asking them open questions to encourage debate and awake their curiosity. My role was correcting their mistakes and telling them how they should tackle them in the future, as well as inspiring them by connecting the content taught with current research.
