I currently work as a maths tutor teaching pupils from year 4 to year 11. My teaching style is nurturing, calm and patient. I am always keen to allay confidence issues with maths so that pupils can go on to achieve their full potential.

Prior to achieving QTS in 2013 I worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, and before that as a qualified nurse.

Since achieving QTS status in 2013 I joined a secondary school where I taught across as abilities and age ranges. I have taken pupils through foundation & higher GCSE and also the Edexcel Level 1 Award in Numbers and Measures. I also have experience in working with earlier key stage content and in the associated planning needed to provide an individualised intervention programme. I have attended the ‘Success@Arithmetic’ course run by Edgehill University which aims to secure arithmetic proficiency through the use of Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) resources. I have also attended a course organised by the Local Authority which reinforced the use of CPA in maths interventions for Looked after Children (CLA) & Other Vulnerable Pupils.

Since February 2021 I have been working solely as a maths tutor where I have carried on honing and developing my teaching skills in an on-line environment with 1:1 and small group sessions. It has still been possible to continue to use CPA approaches through platforms such as bramble, zoom or google classroom. Since February I have also participated in the National Tutoring Programme working with different secondaries, supported pupils who are eligible for pupil premium funding and gained experience in supporting year 6 pupils in their preparation for SATS and their transition to secondary.
