I have had experience working as a GCSE English Literature and Language tutor for a non-profit tutoring organisation, and a charity that works with those retaking their GCSEs and A-Levels.

I have worked with a tutoring organisation for the last 4 years. I taught a GCSE student from year nine through to her graded exams in year 11. I've also worked with a group of students retaking their GCSE English Literature and Language at Lambeth College in South London in 2022.

I am able to tutor those taking their exams on the OCR Gateway and Edexcel and am happy to consider tutoring those on other exam boards.

My teaching approach is centred on allowing my students the independence to develop their own insights whilst working with them to refine their thoughts and ideas and convey them in detailed essays in line with the grading criteria of their exam specifications.

I typically would begin with an assessment to determine their strengths and weaknesses where possible. Lessons typically involve analysing extracts of a text that the tutee would like to improve their understanding of with some pre-written questions and sometimes a PowerPoint presentation to drive the discussion but I make sure the conversation is led by my student as far as possible. This is accompanied by an exam question every few weeks to consolidate my student's understanding, which I would mark and offer feedback on.

I typically give homework, which may include secondary reading material, a set of questions or an exam question.
