I am a highly focused teacher with close attention to detail. My teaching style is to explain the fundamentals to students, ensuring that they understand the underlying principles behind calculations, thereby enabling confidence and future learning.

I teach Maths at all levels and can work with students from all backgrounds. I have an extensive teaching background having helped friends with A-Level revision and problem solving in Maths for many years. In doing this I have developed a range of techniques to ensure that students understand the background concepts that they need to grasp. Once that is achieved I use practical exercises to reinforce the learning, maintaining the practice until the learning is fully embedded. I also emphasise the importance of writing up the methodology behind the calculations to assess and enhance the thinking process that the student has used. I adopted this approach successfully when working with a GCSE student who had given up on exam preparation because of their inability to grasp the concepts, but who eventually did really well at GCSE Maths.
