I think the most effective tuition is collaborative, with tutor and tutee committed to the tutee's goals. The tutee knows themselves best and what they want to achieve, so the tutor uses their skills to guide them towards those goals.

I have been tutoring Science and Mathematics for almost three years, at all levels, including 11+ and functional skills. I have had considerable success in helping students to achieve their goals, which are usually focussed on exam success or in understanding the core concepts of the subject. I love the subjects and transmitting that love to my students, helping to overcome the hurdles that had previously undermined their learning.
