Hello, my name is Priyanka and I am a Mathematics tutor!Graduating with a 1st class honours Mathematics degree has broadened my interest the vastness of the subject. I really hope to motivate my students in the same way, through my lessons.

Ive always been very passionate about Mathematics and really enjoyed the subject. I was particularly interested in the importance of the applications of Mathematics to the real world which really motivated me to study the subject further.

Mathematics has developed my problem solving skills and my ability to explain concepts thoroughly and with great attention to detail - vital skills for a tutor. Ive also worked with a range of software including Excel, Maple and R studio so I feel confident in using an online platform to teach other students.

Having worked with students for well over 7 years now, as well as my time working as a tutor, Assistant Director and Centre Director for a London based education centre, I have gained invaluable experience and insight into the tutoring world. Therefore, I have plenty of experience working with families and tutoring mentees of all ages and backgrounds, be it with lack of confidence, guidance with independent entrance exams, 11+/13+/16+ admissions (with successful cases), GCSE preparation or simply, extra curriculum support especially post Covid!

I understand the stress that comes with school, up to GCSEs and beyond. My aim is to help students feel prepared along their journey through interactive and engaging lessons. I usually begin my lessons with an overview quiz based on the students academic level. I let the students know that I am there to fully support them throughout the lesson and that it is ok if they come across any challenges as this process allows me to identify strengths and areas that we can work on together. 

I believe it is important to begin with basic concepts, as these form the foundations of Mathematics and help students smoothly transition to more challenging/interlinking topics. It also helps build their understanding and confidence. Practice is also key to becoming confident with Mathematics, so together, we will work through various topics until you can ace questions with confidence. I like to end the lesson with an overview too!

I try and incorporate exam style questions into my lessons so students can consolidate their learning and put their knowledge into practice. Well also review progress through regular quizzes. I think it’s important that the student can also see how they have progressed over time to help with their confidence.
