Teaching experience
Since completing my Jazz master’s degree at “Guildhall School of Music and Drama†I have gained 5 years of teaching experience. My lessons include different subjects such as saxophone, clarinet, Jazz harmony, Jazz improvisation, music theory, arranging, ear training and Jazz composition.
I approach my teaching in a holistic manner, tailoring lessons to suit the individual. I do believe that the learning process, particularly in music, is a personal thing, that’s why I have developed a personal path according to what each person wish to achieve. I have experience coaching for jazz & modern music ensembles as a well as giving masterclasses to small groups of adults and I also have prepared privately some of my pupils for official exams (such as “Trinityâ€). Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, I have started giving lessons online via Skype.
I have a wide experience as a professional performer, in original ensembles as well as a session musician. Since I moved to the UK I have been playing in different festivals across the country (like “Isle of Wight festivalâ€, “Cheltenham Jazz festivalâ€, “London Jazz festival†etc) as well as in Europe (Switzerland, Italy) and Asia (Hong Kong, China). In London I have performed in venues like Royal Albert Hall, Oliver’s Jazz bar, Rich Mix, Savoy Hotel, Barbican freestage (with members from the “Sun Ra Arkestraâ€), the Shard, Pizza Express Jazz club and many others. I also have experience as studio recording artist as well as radio performances.
Considering how music brings something very important to my life I would be glad to share my knowledge to the students, supporting them during the learning process. For me, I would work patiently with them to develop their own personal voice in music as well as instilling the importance of a practice routine. Coming specifically from a Jazz background, I would offer them what is necessary to develop that language, the swing feel, the repertoire, the improvisation skills, the ear-training, the history of the music through the important recordings and solos etc.
