Mandy

I am a South African qualified teacher with a Bachelors Degree in Education. I majored in English Literature, Education and Psychology. I have over 20 years of teaching experience and focus on children and adults with Special Educational Needs.

I have taught mainstream and SEN classes in South Africa and here in the UK. I have experience working with children as young as 2 and adults as old as 75. My passion is to help people learn to communicate confidently in English, especially those who may find traditional learning difficult. Being able to read and understand or comprehend what is being read is vital to a person making sense of their world.
Having lived in a country with 11 official languages, I have had much experience teaching both children and adults who don't have English as a home language.
Comprehension and vocabulary building is a main focus of my teaching and I like to work on enabling a person to become confident in expressing themselves in English so that they are able to integrate effectively into an English society.
