Louisa

I am Louisa Broad a violin teacher based in Greenwich. I offer personalised lessons to develop technical proficiency in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Over the past two years, I have been teaching at a secondary school. This included one-to-one lessons helping students to understand the technique and the importance of it for healthy and comfortable playing. We have worked on various pieces at all levels ranging from complete beginner to Grade 8. During group classes, I have taught students how to listen to the other parts in an ensemble to help them feel more comfortable in their parts.

As well as this I teach students the importance of counting to ensure everyone is in time with each other and the group delivers a cohesive performance. I like to encourage my students to play in an ensemble as this gives a well-rounded understanding of not only their playing but also music in a larger context. I am also able to offer music theory lessons with a 100 pass rate and 85 Distinction rate in ABRSM Grade 5.

I offer students a deeper understanding of the music they are playing and the ability to gain knowledge about techniques used to create music should they want to explore writing their own.
