Teaching experience
Since receiving his first piano lesson at the age of seven, Lewis's love of music, and particularly the piano, have continually blossomed. Since achieving Grade Eight with distinction in 2013, he went on to study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the guidance of renowned concert pianists Mark Bebbington and Katherine Lam, where he developed not only proficiency as a musician, but also a strong passion for teaching. Lewis Currently studies at the London College of Music under the tutelage of Jeremy Davis. Performance is at the heart of Lewis's career; he often performs around the capital as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
Joining the faculty of a private music school in the Midlands in 2016, Lewis began to develop his own pedagogical techniques, and built up a prestigious reputation. Since then, Lewis has taught in private music schools across the country, and privately in his own home, whilst also working as a freelance pianist, accompanist and writer (examples of his work can be found on this website). Away from the piano, Lewis finds great enjoyment in singing, taking part in a BBC Radio 3 broadcast of Verdi's Requiem in 2016, and being a member of the Hallé choir in their 2017-18 season.
ver the past few years, Lewis has been a visiting tutor in private music schools across the country, nurturing the talent of aspiring young musicians and adult beginners alike. He also runs his own private teaching practice, catering for gifted musicians in and around London.
Lewis's main aim is to open the eyes of his students to the diversity of music, and the array of opportunities to which it can lead. Many past students have achieved high marks in graded examinations, and gone on to further their music education at institutions such as the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Lewis is a member of the incorporated Society of Musicians, and has a DBS check which is available upon request.
