I have years of experience as a musician. As I have reflected on my experiences, I have developed an understanding of what creates the most efficient progress for my students. Plus the best way of ensuring they enjoy my tutoring and the music they play.

My approach to tutoring is to start with identifying the musical interests of the student. If the student has no particular interests, the first step is to listen to a variety of genres and identify the style the student is interested in. I believe this is important, it also creates a sense of a path and helps to set goals.

After the initial steps, my tutoring becomes very collaborative. With myself and the student working together to progress and fulfill the goals previously set. However, it's important to remain flexible and open-minded. As people grow and progress, their interests change. This is the case with music! But this is the most organic and effective way of ensuring good progression and enjoyment whilst playing music.

I encourage and guide my students to develop themselves as a musician. Identifying what they want to sound like and developing a real reason and passion for playing.

As a tutor, I can tailor my teaching to suit a wide range of abilities, interests, and ages. As well as introducing students to new music.
