Hello, I'm James, and I have just completed an MSc in Maths at Imperial College. I tutor Maths and Physics, and my style is generally student-led I also offer both tutor-led, pre-planned lessons. I try and build genuine understanding in my students!

I have just finished a Masters degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London, where I was awarded a first-class degree. As a result, I am confident in all areas of Mathematics up to undergraduate level. My degree also covered a lot of physics content, meaning I am confident in Physics content up to A-level.

I have tutored maths and physics throughout my degree. From my very first year, I have helped students casually with A-level maths, and I have been tutoring officially on the MyTutor website for 18 months, where I have become one of the top-rated tutors, with a perfect 5-star rating after over 60 reviews.

In addition, I have tutored officially as an undergraduate teaching assistant for my university throughout my final year, helping first-year students with both pure and applied mathematics; I also tutored in the Introduction to Python module.

In my opinion, my biggest advantage is that I have sat all the exams that you will be sitting very recently. I sat the new specification maths GCSE and sat the A-levels in maths and further maths. I have taken the MAT entrance exam for Oxford and completed the Cambridge maths interview, as well as prepared heavily for their STEP exam. This means I am perfectly placed to help you get through your own exams, I know the common questions, and how most students will try and think about them.

My lessons are always pre-planned with the specific goals and requirements of the student in mind. Whether you are interested in structured tutor-led sessions, exam question practice and guidance, or more general student-led sessions, I will be both flexible and well-prepared. I like to tailor my sessions to the needs of each specific student, and I tend to focus on addressing the underlying reasons behind issues students have with maths and physics.

I believe that the experience that you have with your teacher really has a big impact on your enjoyment and ability in areas like maths and physics, and so I try my best to emphasise the fun parts of the subject with my students. I find this is really the best way to learn! I am passionate about maths, and I hope to share this passion with my students.
