My main subjects include English Literature and Sociology. My aim and style in teaching is to make sure the student themselves are comfortable enough with the content that they can teach it back to me confidently.

I have previously taught as a part of study groups for both GCSE and A Level students, focusing both on content and exam practice, as well as being a general mentor for them throughout their studies. Typically, I teach between the ages of 15-18 but I have worked with young children previously too.

My approach to teaching typically focuses on breaking down and simplifying content to what is actually relevant - as textbooks tend to be wordy and excessive - and then building our way up from there. I find that working in groups is successful, with students explaining concepts to each other. Allowing them to teach others or explain what they themselves understand back to me, I believe, builds confidence and thus overall performance.

With the help of past papers and studying officially graded exemplars, I also aim to help students become comfortable with the exam process through exam practice, so much so that a graded exam won't feel as overwhelming and more like a mock.

My own confidence was affected due to the pandemic with A Levels being my first real exams, so I know what its like to feel like you are starting from the bottom. I believe it takes both the work of the student and teacher to really build everything back up.
