I'm an English & Taiwanese bilingual tutor. My fun approach to language encourages students to be confident, engaged, stimulated and motivated. The aims of my lessons are to get the students involved, thinking and speaking all whilst having fun.

I am a freelance tutor for myself and also for an independent agency based in the Southwest of England. I currently predominantly teach students (one to one) online from China and Taiwan. My ability to speak both English and Mandarin makes it much easier to teach Chinese children, especially when they are still beginners. This is because it avoids a language barrier.

I have 5 years of experience working with children from the ages of 8 - 18 in a language school. When tutoring privately, I enjoy working with younger children, giving them a strong foundation in the language. I believe I am a fun, charismatic and honest person who is able to motivate even the most shy children to get excited about and involved in my lessons. My ethos is that if a child is having fun during the lesson, the learning will be passive. As it is usually parents who want the child to take lessons and not the child him or herself, the fun aspect is very important. This ensures that the children will look forwards to the lessons rather than dreading them.

Before taking on a new student, I have an initial meeting / analysis to identify the students level, aims and targets. I then take a precision approach to plan, create and tailor lesson content and every lesson plan specifically to the level, aims and needs of the student. There is no one way of learning, and every student enjoys something different, I always adjust to accommodate the needs of the student. As long as they are thinking, speaking and listening to English, they are absorbing and learning. As a student of language myself, I know how valuable conversation time with a native speaker is. I want to provide this opportunity for others.

I hold a degree in Chinese & International Business from the University of Leeds. I use the skills that I acquired during my studies and apply them to work and my teaching. I have a high level of intercultural competency with the ability to adapt to multiple environments. I undertake targets diligently and productively with a flexible approach to work, applying an immaculate level of detail to everything that I do.
