My occupation as a Mechanical Engineer makes me well-equipped to teach Maths and Physics, as I use the principles on a daily basis. My teaching style aim will be for my students to understand, teach and apply the concepts, focussing on understanding.

Whilst I have formal teaching/tutoring experience, I have often been in situations at School, University and work where I have had to ensure what I was teaching was understood. In school, this would have been in a pair or group setting where I had knowledge of a particular subject and I would teach my friends, I often found in this situation that repetition helped.

At work, I recently taught a work experience colleague principles and calculations to carry out a ventilation design on a project I was working on which, I taught him in the best way to help him grasp, he understood and was able to complete the assignment I had for him. I also had private lessons growing up and I have experienced both good and bad teaching styles.

In short, I found that the best teachers have adaptable teaching styles and explain things in a way the students understand best. I aim to adopt this style of teaching.
