Hi, I teach Maths and Physics. My goal is to instil the same 'will to learn more' I have in my tutees. I adapt myself to their learning style to create an open, friendly and constructive environment. Currently, I am a 2nd year at Manchester Uni.

As a tutor, I am still relatively fresh and have done 60 hours of private tutoring over the last 4-5 months. Before this, I did around an additional 10 hours just before the summer of 2021. I also helped teach/mentor younger students (around year 9) while at 6th form on a voluntary basis at lunchtimes and supported staff in a couple of their lessons as well. So far I have not taken any students through official examinations apart from mock exams.

Maths and Physics can be very polarising subjects for many people and I feel a lot of them get lost in the details of how the subject is presented. As a result, I primarily try and use what they do understand/know as a basis to build/link into other related topics and branch out from there. This link between topics is something I try to emphasise as I feel viewing everything as subsections of the same core concepts helps a lot in problem-solving for exams. To that end, I like to ask my students lots of questions where I see their thought process explicitly allowing me to better understand the support they need. Solving problems is also key to gaining confidence in ones own work which is the spark I myself found missing when I was younger.

Above all what I strive for is to create an open dialogue between me and my student so they can be relaxed, focused and enjoy the whole process as that is ultimately the most important thing. I aim to create an environment that facilitates this development of passion while I guide my tutees through the forest of all knowledge.
