I offer KS3 and GCSE level tuition in Maths & Science. With no one-size-fits-all approach, I do my best to adapt my techniques to each student and their individual needs. The focus of each lesson is to make progress, no matter how large or little.

Teaching experience
Although I only started professional tutoring in May 2021, I do have a few years of experience. This is because I have been tutoring children of family friends since I was in school. I did this for many years, mainly teaching English and Maths. Once I began to tutor professionally, I started to spread out into other subject areas, picking up the Sciences and Spanish in addition to English and Maths. I have experience in KS2, KS3 and KS4 tuition (ages 7 through 16), with the latter being my speciality.
As for my experience with children, I have worked in a preschool as a nursery assistant where I interacted with the parents, was involved in various activities and tasks throughout each day and developed individual relationships, understanding various behaviour patterns as well as how to work with each of them. During my A-Levels, I volunteered in Year 7 Spanish lessons as a teaching assistant where I was able to assist the teacher with class activities, help any pupils who were struggling and help make lessons more engaging. I have also worked as a nanny for two families where I created a safe and stimulating environment for their children, engaged them in educational activities and crafts and spent time regularly reading to and with them.
I have taken students through graded exams, namely their SATs and GCSEs. It is always encouraging to hear from parents on results day that their child has achieved the results they wanted.
My approach to teaching is open and engaging. I expect students to ask questions and I am happy to answer them. I include videos and lots of examples in my lessons to ensure they are able to practice the topic at hand. I then send them away with homework to cement their knowledge. When this is returned, I am able to see if there are any problem areas that require further attention. I also set termly tests to keep a record of students' overall progress.

I have been tutored by Debbie since November 2022 in maths and science having 1 hour tuition each per week. Throughout this time Debbie has been professional, reliable and trustworthy. I have been going to her lessons and I really believe that she has helped me feel more confident in maths and science.

TESTIMONIAL

Deborah taught Higher Chemistry and Maths to me on a weekly basis during my GCSE year. Without Deborah's assistance, my grades wouldn't have improved from C's to B's. She created helpful visual aids using whiteboards and ensured I understood everything before we moved forward. To ensure I understood everything, she assigned me independent assignments after each session. I would highly recommend her!
