Payment policy
Connecting students with tutors
TeachTutti’s mission is to connect students with tutors as easily as possible to promote learning and personal development. A clear payment policy can assist this process by being as quick and simple as possible. That is TeachTutti’s approach – to connect students with tutors by making payment simple and completely safe – so you can focus on what matters: your learning.
TeachTutti payment system
TeachTutti wants to ensure that all payments made by students are safe, secure and simple. For this reason TeachTutti has arranged payment through GoCardless and Stripe because they offer the most secure method of payment and charge the lowest commission compared to other payment portals. This allows us to keep our costs low to our students and ensures payment security in line with our privacy policy.
GoCardless and Stripe are protected by the financial regulations covering all online payments and are used by the UK Government, The Guardian, TripAdvisor, Virgin and other leading brands.
The payment process is completely secure and approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Follow the link for full details of the security policy for GoCardless and Stripe.
Payments through GoCardless are made through the Direct Debit Guarantee. The direct debit guarantee means that payment always needs to be agreed in advance, immediate refunds are made for any errors and cancellation can be made instantly at any time. Card details are saved securely with Stripe using Stripe Checkout to allow for future payments.
How to pay for lessons
The initial payment made is for the first lesson only and payment only takes place after the lesson has been completed and the student has authorised the payment. Payment will not be taken until the day and time of the first lesson. A full refund is guaranteed if the student decides not to continue tuition.
Bookings can be Fixed or Ongoing. Fixed tuition continues for a set number of lessons chosen by the student at the time of booking. The remaining lessons can be increased or decreased from the bookings page. Ongoing tuition continues indefinitely with no end date. Fixed tuition is aimed at students who have a short-term aim, such as exam preparation, while Ongoing tuition is for a long-term study committment, such as learning a musical instrument.
If the student stops after the taster lesson, no further payments will be made and the account will be terminated.
If the student continues beyond the first lesson, subsequent lessons are booked in 4 lesson blocks. The charge for each lesson block is only made after all lessons from the previous block have taken place. The student will be notified when the tutor submits an invoice claiming for a lesson.
TeachTutti realises that students often lead busy lives and may have to cancel lessons at times. As long as more than 24 hours’ notice is given then no charge will be made. However, the tutor is entitled to claim for the full lesson cost if less than 24 hours’ notice is given.
